The Wild Adventures of Roaming Hamsters...
A couple of months ago, LaNova's motorcycle (Maggie) was experiencing a peculiar problem, it was slipping in and out of gear under acceleration. After a number of attempts to resolve the issue at home, we decided to take the bike in to the shop for a professional repair.
BMW Motorcycles of Ventura County has always held a rather special place in my heart since they were the ones who sold me the pair. But, since we were up in Petaluma, California (North Bay), it was a difficult choice--take the bike to Santa Rosa to be worked on, or take the bike 7 hours to Newbury Park. I got on the phone with Corwin (lead mechanic at BMW of Ventura County), and explained to him that we were under a time crunch because of our pending departure date. He said that he would move some things around in order to accommodate our schedule. With that, LaNova and I loaded the bike into the back of our truck and drove all night to get the bike into the shop, first thing in the morning.
Howard (shop supervisor at BMW of Ventura County) received the bike and moved heaven and earth to get us taken care of. Less than a week later, they had all of the pieces back together and running. WHAT A RELIEF!!!
Although our departure was delayed due to the holidays, it just added one more star to their already impeccable record of high quality customer service.
Tragedy struck two days into our trip when the bike started "tripping", again. Luckily, our next stop on our way to the border was going to be Newbury Park. We had already planned on bringing the bikes in for a simple "once over", just to make sure that everything was running well before we crossed over into Mexico. But, the re-emergence of this issue had me in a bit of a panic. The first time I had brought the bike into the shop, it set me back a pretty penny. And, already operating on scarce funds to make this whole journey happen, I was very worried.
We brought the bike into to the shop and explained the situation. After about 10 minutes, Howard approached us and explained that he had no idea what the problem was, but he assured us that they would find it and fix it. The cost? Nothing. NOTHING! Now, it has already been fairly well established that I like BMW Motorcycles of Ventura County--from George, who sold me the pair, to Matt who always takes FANTASTIC care of me at parts, along with Kyle, and Howard and Corwin in service. But, the fact that they stand behind their work, they work with you when you have a scheduling issue, or they are simply there to walk you through a bone-head spark plug screw-up, BMW Motorcycles of Ventura County is the place to go. Yes. Even if it is 7 hours out of your way...it is worth it!
In a day where so many sales, parts, and service departments are only interested in up-selling you at every turn, these guys simply fix the problem and get you out the door. It is a hassle-free experience, and takes on more of a family feel than a dealership.
